I played cello duets with Heath for a salon-style concert, and it was amazing! So much fun. 10 months ago I thought I’d never play the cello again, so it was a pretty momentous occasion! 🙂 🙂

Leaf Peeping!

This weekly update thing is kinda lame, but there’s no more efficient way to keep track of everything I’ve been up to! haha
Yesterday was particularly memorable, went leaf peeping for the first time! (yeah, what a strange word!) Check out the gorgeous fall colours. We went to Mohawk Trail in East Massachusetts and I am totally giving up a trip to Miami this weekend for another round of THIS:
I spent an inordinate amount of time attending random public lectures at Harvard last week, and we visited two really inspiring programmes. I was getting a little over excited about all the different possibilities that I could explore in the year, so those visits really clarified what I wanted to do and how I wanted to go about doing that. That was really great.

Another week GONE?!
I have to admit, this week kindaaa felt like a holiday, with a mid week trip to Chicago, and a somewhat relaxed schedule!
Highlights: Yo Yo Ma, Shostakovich Cello Concerto No. 1 – SUBLIME second movement!, attended a South East Asian event at Harvard and met a lot really interesting people, celebrated Tati’s birthday!, went apple picking, watched H eat h’s quartet perform salon-style!, and finally an incredible Brahms violin concerto by Mir ia m Fried. J
Met lots of amazing people, and got to know the fellows better. It was a good week.
Now to get out of the holiday mood and back to work. hahaha
my ADVENTURE
My trip to Chicago started with a scavenger hunt for a key.. HOW AWESOME IS THAT? haha an old friend kindly allowed me to stay at his place even though he was out of town and there was no way to pass me the house key – so he left it in his unlocked car, in a garage, in some random building a couple of blocks away from his place! SO! I received several emails with addresses, directions and instructions I.e. Take the elevator on the left of Treasure Island (yes, I did not make that up – that’s the name of the supermarket) up to the third floor. The car is parked in the middle, beside a red pillar etc, i’ve left the passenger car door unlocked, you can find the key in the dashboard… (the email came complete with pictures of the location of the car, and maps of the carpark relative to the apartment). IT WAS SO FUN. hahahaha
I then met an old friend from primary school (!!!) that i haven’t seen in more than 10 years for a really great dinner at the Gage. Then John Hancock building for its incredible view of the chicago skyline!, and the backroom for some live music 🙂
The adventure continued today! After getting lost (I thought I had a good sense of direction, but whenever I have to follow my google maps it is quite a disaster) I wasn’t in a rush or anything so I had the chance to explore a different part of chicago! I took an architectural boat tour, which was fun! The Chicago skyline is truly amazing. Butttt hard to capture on camera for a photog newbie like me haha
Oh yeah! So, the adventure! I came to Chicago because one of my friends from Singapore got married today. I knew she lived in the outskirts of Chicago, but somehow i assumed she would be coming downtown for the signing of the documents. HOWEVER, that was not the case!! It was in a town called Wheaton, a 50 minute Metra ride outside downtown Chicago. I was so used to the frequency of trains and buses in an urban setting….. I had NO idea that buses ran every half an hour, and once I got to Wheaton Metra Station, I realised that if I was to wait for the bus to take me to the courthouse, I would miss the ceremony!!!! I decided to walk the 36 minute journey (it was 2.54 at that time and the signing was at 3.30). I started half walking/half running down suburbia, willing my aching legs to carry me QUICKER!!!! hahaha it was really amusing. I was SOOOO relieved when I saw the building appear and I was drenched. in sweat. when I arrived. Not. Cool. But I made it!!!!! it was lovely 🙂

When I got back to Chicago, I started walking in the general direction towards the lake, and ended up finding a really beautiful fountain, the art institute, dePaul university, millennium park (the famous bean), and finished off the night with deep dish pizza at pizanos.
Last day in Chicago tomorrow! It has been an amazing adventure 🙂
